Re: Chris and his Monitor

This might sound nuts, but I have always assumed that Gleedall has Chris' keyboard synched with everything else to play whatever sounds he wants to play on any given song. One song it might be drums, later in the song horns, but it's programmed to change, and the monitor would have the music or noti...

Re: Up to 13 years of mystery and speculation nearly over....

It would be cool if Relentless were to be given a proper release through this. I know it won't happen, but that would justify whatever else is being released, in my book.

Re: Books mentioning the Boys

There is a chapter titled "Praying the Confiteor at Westminster Abbey: Four-on-the-floor Apocalypse" in:

Mike Grimshaw, The Counter-Narratives of Radical Theology and Popular Music: Songs of Fear and Trembling, published by Palgrave Macmillan.

Re: Release Revisted

There are a few points where the Boys' "eras" were really grounded in a particular songwriting period. The early work was in their early songwriting sessions, providing songs into the final single of Behavior. Our current era, it seems to me, is less identifiable with Stuart Price but with...

Re: Matt Drudge digs the PSB?

For years, whenever there is a fill-in person on the US Rush Limbaugh Show on AM radio, "Always on My Mind" is used regularly as intro and outro music... it seems to me that they also threw in another PSB song, one not as well known, though I don't remember... and I don't listen to AM talk...

I ordered it from my local independent bookstore and read it last weekend. I liked it. I thought the use of religious language was interesting.

Re: Radio 3 interview to PSB

The more I listen to Super the more self-referencing it becomes to the canon, and not even the songs one would think. "Say it to Me" reminds me a lot of the sounds on "Before." I even hear "One and One Make Five" in the mix at one point. But "Burn," for as sim...

Re: A GRAMMY for Super next year?

I thought Electric had a good shot at a nomination. In fact, I was surprised when it didn't get a Grammy nod. I don't know how much lobbying goes on behind the scenes for Grammy nods, and whether that is even important for their PR in the States in their view. It seemed to me that the release of To ...

Re: Are the PSB in a new "Imperial" Phase?

Perhaps there are now in an institutional phase. They seem to be regarded as an institution beyond reproach. Not many love it, but many respect it. More and more seem to, even in the US press. (Rolling Stone noting that they were the highest grossing per-gig festival performers last year, even if it...

Similarly, I kept thinking the last bit really reminded me of something. It came to me today: It's awfully reminiscent of the female vocals in Gary Numan's "Berserker."

I thought they always self-financed their albums, or at least did at the point of the beginning of the "Pet Shop Boys Partnership."

My one-sentence review.

It sounds like what we were hoping Bilingual sounded like when got "Before" instead.
