Re: Pet Shop Boys on Youtube

So, let me get this straight: a vapourwave mix is the song just slowed down? Sent from my SM-J410F using Tapatalk Yes. :) The trend is tend to slow down songs "for the chill". If you're searching on Youtube for " put song name in here slowed", you'll find loads of those versions. They pitch down ev...

Re: BBC4 Top of the Pops Repeats

Both songs should’ve been Top 10. Probably releasing them at Christmas didn’t help. Electronic should’ve waited a month, and bagged themselves a Top 5 Hit.

Re: What would you think a future PSB's album should sound like in order to reinvent themselves?

James Ford has produced Jessie Ware's new album 'What's Your Pleasure?'. A sublime pop album that nods to many artists and references, yet sounds contemporary. He has beautifully combined electronics with elegant orchestration and production, not a million miles from PSB. Listen to 'The Kill', the ...

Re: What would you think a future PSB's album should sound like in order to reinvent themselves?

Stefan Storm from the Sound of Arrows, could be a good producer for the next album. He just produced the brilliant long awaited new Annie single, American Cars Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I think this song sounds very PSB. The film was made in Spain by the way by Spaniards and the kids are S...

Re: Guardian 100 Greatest UK No.1's

This is such an anodyne, predictable list, exemplified by Fat of the Land being on there rather than the far superior Music for the Jilted Generation: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/articles/gjngFgdd8BH9X5mGzwQrRq/your-ultimate-90s-album-vote Wow, no PSB at all...Behaviour and Very are two stone ...

Re: Guardian 100 Greatest UK No.1's

Someone's peed in his cornflakes. https://www.facebook.com/Musiceel/posts/10158031498370590 He's a producer who worked with Duran Duran around the time of Seven And The Ragged Tiger and has had a major chip on his shoulder ever since as they never worked with him again. I’m not on Facebook, so can’...

Re: Guardian 100 Greatest UK No.1's

I'm stunned that Depeche Mode never had a #1 single in the UK - I'd have put cold hard cash down on that. Just goes to show that chart positions counted for very little even back in the 80's. Depeche Mode is so dark, I understand they are not very radio friendly. I think the very first songs with V...

Re: Guardian 100 Greatest UK No.1's

It did didn't it? Oh well shame-faced, one less then. My point was it is a bit of a wonky compilation. Don't care though, I'm still the biggest sucker for a list. Haha same here, I love a good list. I agree though it is a bit wonky, though it is a nice change from the usual lists voted by the gener...

Re: Guardian 100 Greatest UK No.1's

I've been reading this everyday and also waiting for them to appear. I was expecting at least a top 10 position. I'd be very surprised if both they didn't make it and also if they are in the top three. Perhaps today? I don't think they allow covers in the rules, so that rules out 'Always On My Mind...

Guardian 100 Greatest UK No.1's

Patrick Bateman wrote:Ghost Town and something (not Something) by The Beatles must be in the top three. Of course Strawberry Fields / Penny Lane should be number one but only got to number two.
If the Beatles make the list, I think they’ll go for I want to hold your hand.

Re: Guardian 100 Greatest UK No.1's

The only reason I can think of for them not making the list, is that the critics are all big fans of the Pogues.
