Re: Lost

As with all new PSB music it will take a few listens for me to form a lasting view. But on first few listens I really like it. The lost room is harrowing. Really dark. And the rest of it hangs together really well. Almost like an Agenda 2. I still think Living in the past is spectacular. And it fits...

Re: New Album!

Didn’t they say that Burning the heather was meant for this album? It would suggest a warmer feel to the record. And I note the guitar in the foreground of the shot.

Suspect we won’t see this until spring next year. But that’s fine with me. Just super excited now!

Re: Living in the past (home demo)

Call me old fashioned but I love it. The lyric is very much on the nose. But it really captures something. I get it isn’t to everyone’s taste but to me the fact that after over 30 years PSB can write something so beautiful and just toss it out as a “home demo” on YouTube shows the sheer quality and ...

Re: Bilingual promotion

Bilingual is certainly the period where PSB made some strategic missteps. Who knows why they did. Some of it may have been over confidence after a decade of hits. Probably more likely is that it was a slight fatigue creeping in. The missteps as I see it were: 1) They should have seen the Latino them...

Re: New EP incoming?

It does sound like we might get something new pretty soon. Maybe before the end of the year. I'm not sure it will be as soon as post-Glastonbury as this interview was only conducted a few weeks ago and it sounded a little uncertain. But who knows. What it does suggest to me is that they haven't got ...

Re: Anecdote about Chris from his ex-neighbour

Not sure the dates/Info adds up. From my memory of things Chris was living with Pete in Highbury when he died. Then didn’t he basically live with Neil for about a year after that? I remember Neil mentioning it in an interview around the Very-era. After that I think Chris went to the Clerkenwell flat...

Re: Annually 2022 (contains spoilers)

Agree it is very disappointing. A light read that is only looking back. Thing with Neil and Chris is that they always do something (or don't do something) for a reason. So the absence of any new news isn't just that they have been sitting around doing nothing. There will be a reason for it. It may b...

Re: Phil Harding on his PSB remixes

Thanks for this. Really interesting. Never heard the Phil Harding mix before and I am really surprised at how it's the basis of the Introspective version. I always assumed (wrongly) that was an entirely new mix/recording. Good mix though I tend to agree that the Introspective version remains the def...

Re: PSB are quieter than usual

:D Good work Minimal! I don’t think PSB are that quiet you know. It’s not like 1992 or 1998. We’ve had a steady trickle of things. But the pandemic has broken the recent rhythm of an album followed by an extensive tour. If the pandemic hadn’t happened they would have spent 2020 and 2021 touring. And...

Re: BBC2 Takeover

Agree- Chemical Brothers song was great. There was a really nice mix of tracks across the whole show. A bit more chat from them would have been nice though. But then again I have always been of the view that Neil and Chris should have their own regular TV/radio show!

Re: PSB on BBC1 on New Year's Eve

Nice to see them at the start of the new year. Thought they did a good performance. And both looking good- though it makes me chuckle how Chris has adopted the face mask as a way to destroy disguise himself even more! Every (pandemic) cloud has a silver lining!

Re: Anything?

1992 was pretty sparse too. They did the Hacienda gig and the Performance video but I think that was about it. I guess there was the Electronic single and the aborted Go West single too. But it was a very quiet year indeed. As for what comes next, I think we will see a new album next year. Maybe not...

Re: Longevity from a fan perspective

I agree entirely. I have often thought back to my 8 year old self and what made me decide to back PSB in 1987 over the other groups of the time. As fans we have had tremendous bang for our buck over the past 35 years. There’s never been a gap of more than 4 years between albums and every year has ha...
