Re: PSB & Tracey

Her cover of King's Cross (Hot Chip mix) is divine.

Re: Why do people hate “Before”?

It's just forgettable. Nothing bad per se, but nothing special. And I've heard every remix. Nothing is really exciting, innovative, or clever about it. Sadly similar to Metamorphosis and Saturday Night Forever. Thankfully Bilingual had such fantastic bsides to rescue a dodgy album.

Re: Would you like a new PSB rock album?

IF it had the punch of Truck Driver and His Mate, I Didn't Get Where I Am Today, and A Certain Je Ne Sais Quoi - far better rock songs than anything on Release but they seem to just do these as b-sides.

Re: Dricography: Ranking Very

OTLTA: "the hypnotic rhythm giving way to the rapturous crescendo" YES. Still one of my absolute favorite musical moments of the band. Also, the coda / hidden track of Ecstacy put an amazing, poignant punctuation on the gloss and fervor of the album. One in a Million is also a major fave, and much b...

I was there in Chicago. Every tour I've seen since was comparatively disappointing.

Re: Dricography: Ranking Introspective

I loved this when it came out; it had a force of cohesive, amazing production lacking from their first two albums (which we would also hear in Behavior and Very). That being said, the criticism I would agree with is that there were much better versions of IA to be had. 10" version might have fit wit...

Re: *YOUR* Perfect PSB 'Best of' Album

I'm gonna go thematic here, as I'm listening to a lot of PSB instrumentals these days... Side I 1. Axis 2. London (Thee Radical Blacklite Mix) 3. Leaving (PSB Freedom Mix) 4. A Red Letter Day (Trouser Enthusiasts Autoerotic Decapitation Mix) 5. So Hard (Dub Mix) 6. New York City Boy (Morales Dub) Si...

Re: Neil's pop theories

I would argue they did this with the recent spring show at the Royal Albert Hall with Johnny Marr and the Royal Philharmonic... And you would be correct. I loved that gig. But imagine if it could tour, in venues of 500 capacity, with a lot more album tracks....... It would be spectacular. I saw Kyl...

Re: 'Yes' and 'Elysium', will be released on Oct 20th, 2017

Shame that some of the tracks that helped me reappraise Elysium originally aren't here. The instrumental mixes, as mentioned, as great. The Andrew Dawson HappySad mix of Winner completely changed the song for me. What I thought was their worst single, and one of their worst songs, ever, blossoms wit...

Re: Rediscovered

Shouting in the Evening grew to replace others on my Electric playlist.
It Always Comes as a Surprise, after decades of neglect, is now one of my favorite Bilingual tracks.
I hated, hated, HATED Winner at first, but the slow Andrew Dawson HappySad Remix totally changed my opinion.

It was a hit in Sweden.

Re: 20 Years of Bilingual

Bilingual was the first PSB album to leave me disappointed but since has become one of my favorite 'eras.' By which I mean, with the aid of digital technologies, fans could more easily recreate or 'repair' an album, substituting disliked tracks for fave b-sides and remixes. It was also the first PSB...

Re: Your Twelve Track b-Sides Album

Ok so for b-sides I couldn't choose 12, so, instead of a b-sides top 12, I narrowed it to a theme of the interplay and tensions between rock-disco-ballads. Sorta. Backsides: 1. How I Learned to Hate Rock n Roll 2. The Calm Before the Storm 3. You Know Where You Went Wrong 4. A New Life 5. The Truck ...
