Re: Death of Ennio Morricone

A bit surprised the Boys didn't acknowledge his passing on their website. Yeah I was wondering if they would say something. Perhaps they didn't have much to say as they never managed to meet him in person. There is probably even some minor grievance about how he treated them. At the RAH concert Nei...

Re: Death of Ennio Morricone

From the Reissues booklet: We’d written this song ‘Jealousy’ – one of the first songs we wrote, which would eventually be recorded for Behaviour – and we wanted Ennio Morricone to do the string arrangement. So Tom Watkins tracked down Ennio Morricone’s manager and he came to Sarm West and we played ...

Re: Death of Ennio Morricone

he later sent them a tape (with ICHH music) that EH said they could use, so not a proper collab. And the "postman" was actually EM's manager in person who came over (to see Tom Watkins presumably), gave the recording and said " they can do whatever they like with this " (according to Neil at the Sa...

Did Neil and Chris originally want Ennio Morricone to have some involvement with Jealousy, or did I imagine that?
Yes they wanted him to arrange it :D
Neil talked about it at the RAH concert here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xcm3nz76YPo&t=48m40s

Coincidentally, this morning before hearing the news I was listening to this. ICHH instrumental starts around 19:50, never heard this before, anyone know if this was released?

The song that became ICHH. RIP Ennio Morricone x
Wow! I didn't know it was released! Thought it's been buried in PSB vaults. Thanks

Re: Death of Ennio Morricone

RIP, Maestro.

His soundtrack to La Piovra (The Octopus) has been on my playlist for more than a decade, especially Inizio Del Caso and La Morale Dell'Immorale.

Had the luck to see him once conducting an orchestra when he was 79. Incredible figure.

Pre-Ordered this first from Base.com on 16-May-20
ORDER CANCELLED ("we have been severely let down by the studio who had assigned us stock") on 18-June-20
That's weird bad luck. I ordered from them on 19 May and they shipped on 11 June.

Re: IT COULDN’T HAPPEN HERE BLU-RAY SCORE A SEMITONE LOWER

The weird thing is that, although the DVD plays at a faster speed than the Blu Ray disc, the songs are still pitched too low - try playing the original album version of ICHH alongside the soundtrack version at the start of the film...the pitch is lower (not as much as the Blu Ray, but it's still lo...

Re: IT COULDN’T HAPPEN HERE BLU-RAY SCORE A SEMITONE LOWER

I was wondering if this was how the original score was presented, with the songs maybe being pitched or slowed to better suit the cues and progression of the film’s edit? Or is it possibly an oversight or mistake? We don't know with 100% certainty but, on the face of it, the film was filmed and edi...

They have seen the forum. Neil has described it as "bitchy" in the past
I thought he used some form of the word "churlish".

Re: It Couldn’t Happen Here June 2020 Release Confirmed

it strangely seems that who made the music-video cut had access to more footage than the shots used on the movie...or there were alternate cuts of the movie around! The music-video was out there in December 1987, wasn't it? Whereas the movie wasn't ready until at least April 1988. So it wasn't the ...

Re: That Crossover Moment.....

I did not have that moment. Pre-1993 whatever PSB song I heard on the radio or saw on TV seemed nothing more than a regular pop noise. Didn't pull any strings, didn't touch any nerves at all. Maybe I was too young. Then Can you forgiver her? came out and put it all upside down. I started searching f...

Re: It Couldn’t Happen Here June 2020 Release Confirmed

Unless you are going back to the 16fps silent era pretty much everything on film is shot at 24fps. Well, the film cameras were not built locked to 24fps and allowed switch to 25fps didn't they? Apart from the speed of PSB music, speech and movements in the film, there is another hint as to why the ...

I second that. Messages only go out of the Outbox when they are opened by the recipient (which may never happen).
