Re: NEW West End Girls 2x12" (Nov 2020)

Why now? Who commissioned and paid for these remixes? The cynic in me thinks the record label and Bobby O have come to an arrangement - to take advantage of increased visibility of the song via the Guardian deciding it's the UK's best ever chart-topper (and to a lesser extent the lockdown version)....

Re: PSB vs NO Tour Merch (just for fun)

Was thinking of crafting a graphic black and white cherub from New Order’s Substance so it colour matched with Actually ... and then add a colour code bar as seen in Power, Corruption and Lies ... using Introspective colours Do it! Does anyone have the design chops to redo the cover to New Order's ...

I’m trying to come up with a better LOVE: WILL TEAR US APART / COMES QUICKLY design. That’s the tshirt/totebag I really want. Maybe something incorporating Peter Saville's alphabet colour code...? https://new-order.fandom.com/wiki/Peter_Saville%27s_Code#:~:text=Now%20work%20down%20the%20album,two%2...

Surely if funding is an issue, then a pledgemusic release could be possible?
But if PSB do a pledgemusic release, they turn into the kind of band that does pledgemusic releases. And do they want to be that kind of band? (He says five years later... although the question remains.)

Re: That Crossover Moment.....

I had a school friend who was a massive fan. He made me a mix tape of PSB, some time in 1989. Looking back, it was a slightly weird mix of songs; I remember that it had The Sound of the Atom Splitting on it, Don Juan, and Shopping, but not Rent, Suburbia, What have I done to deserve this? or Domino...

By the way, the fifth single (if they had one) should be Wedding in Berlim.
If they want their 15th studio album to be called Down The Dumper, sure.

No, I didnt know you could do that. Might check it out but would still want my own list offline too.
There is the function to export lists from Discogs in Excel/csv format.

(I am no affiliated with Discogs or any of its ancillaries)

Re: What would you think a future PSB's album should sound like in order to reinvent themselves?

It's almost a song from the 70's and it sounds older than their 80's sounds. I literally just said that. Anyway... for me, it's not about sounds but about attitude . The run of the first five albums - their commercial peak - not only included their imperial period but as when they sounded imperious...

Yes, its not 1987-1988 anymore ! Move On !!
I couldn't agree more. But for some it will forever be 1987 - 1988... :wall: :wall: :wall:
And yet BTH sounds like a dusty b-side - one that should have stayed there - from 1971.

personally, I hope it's not more Guardian political tropes
"Did anyone see that new Woodsy Allen movie?"
"You know, I like his films except for that nervous fellow that's always in them."

Re: Battleship Potemkin - True, accurate sync

Thank you for this. I can finally watch the film again. For added “live” authenticity, I’m going to hold up an inadequate umbrella whilst being sprayed with a light splashing of water.

Re: Guardian 100 Greatest UK No.1's

From the comments section on that page: ... it only became a hit because Tennant pulled a few strings to get massive, massive publicity on television before it became a hit... For starters, BBC Breakfast Television, where they basically ran a series on "making a pop record" with this as the example....
