Re: I don’t wanna

Funny, I was listening to the album this morning and felt compelled to come on here and write a positive review for this song, only to find this thread waiting for me. I love it. A favourite in our house. Sounds like some of their earlier stuff. Ties third after HFAM and BTH with Dreamland. I've ove...

Re: Show your love for “Hoping for a Miracle”

Classic PSB. Beautiful. Perfect vocals, clever lyrics and love the classical riff/ motif. Rivals BTH for the hottest spot. Funny how I thought that BTH was referencing Cameron in the same way as it talks of Blair.

Alexa's favourite band

Apologies for posting in the wrong topic before but I couldn't work out how to create a new topic. Anyway, who has asked Alexa who her favourite band is? Her response is very sweet.

I'm sure this is old news, but has everyone asked Alexa who her favourite band is?

Leaving Invisible Inside a Dream Love is a Bourgeois Construct The Pop Kids Burn Axis/Inner Sanctum The Dictator Decides Brick England Way through the woods Brilliant that this is so hard, they still have it in bucket-loads. I think Axis has the edge over Inner Sanctum but they are both fab intros. ...

Re: Burning the heather

I just read Ghost's response, which sums up everything I think (more eloquently too). The song is about burning the bloody heather, getting rid of the old to make way for the new. So of course it isn't JUST about a man in a pub. It is about aging, time, global warming, society. It is brilliant reall...

Re: Burning the heather

I have, thank you. It is also definitely about a lonely man drinking in a pub. Poems are multi-layered.

Re: Burning the heather

Doesn't Cameron own a pad in Cornwall where they burn a lot of heather? Can't imagine they'd waste a song on that knob cheese, but for some reason that's the guy I picture in the pub. Aaahhh for me!!! I do think it is Brexit though, hence the drop now. Well that and the Autumn bit I suppose. Love PSB.

Re: Burning the heather

Rather nice. I think it's political. Can't quite work out what though. Maybe an allegory of England and its demise? Slow, lingering, misunderstood, lost? Probably not. Very atmospheric though, takes you to those moors.

Re: Keeping An Open Mind on An Open Mind

The pace and phrasing are similar to Winner aren't they? Thankfully the sentiment has been dropped though! Great hook. So catchy and PSB. It is so simple though you're trying to remember where you've heard it before. Maybe that's why they've relegated it, they're trying to remember too. Looking forw...

Re: Pet Shop Boys - Hyde Park Sep 15th 2019

I don't post on here often so I shouldn't really comment but I was offended by that 'too gay' post earlier. What the? I'm a straight mother of two but I really didn't like it. Why bother taking offence on someone's behalf, they probably don't care, but you're in tears, poor snowflake. I think camp ...

Re: Pet Shop Boys - Hyde Park Sep 15th 2019

We had a really great time. It flowed really well. Only Go West jarred a little for me but the crowd loved it. I don't think Neil likes singing it, and it tells. I thought Beverley was a great choice. Loved Burn and It's a Sin. Olly looked really proud to be up there with them and he looked fab. I t...
