Re: BBC4 Top of the Pops Repeats

Non-PSB but Anthea Turner is hilariously, atrociously bad in these.

Re: How could the imperial phase have been prolonged

The Imperial phase really ended after Heart and the release of Domino Dancing. It had to have been I'm Not Scared that was the first single really. Suppose it depends on what people think an Imperial phase is. If we're being generous, it was the release of Bilingual. Neil meant it in the sense that...

Re: How could the imperial phase have been prolonged

Why on earth would Blur have released their breakthrough single (as chart-friendly Britpop lads) in collaboration with anyone, let alone PSB?

Re: Agenda instead of Hotspot

I find the Agenda critiques hilarious; I get you don't like being mocked for voting for Trump or Brexit or whatever strain of stupidity du jour cause you preferred, but have you never actually paid attention to their catalogue? They've always been a political group, they consistently write politica...

Re: My Inspiration podcast - More than 40 minutes of interview with Pet Shop Boys

I admire Chris' devotion to greatest hits albums (Nina Simone notwithstanding). Without sounding too much like Alan Partridge, it is great to have all the best tracks on one album and there is a real snobbery about demeaning them.

Re: Wedding in Berlin: revival of interest?

Wedding in Berlin is fine as an album closer; it's not an all-time classic but works as the last track on what is an optimistic album and there's also the Berlin connection (even though they didn't actually get married in Wedding). It is far better suited to Hotspot than Legacy is to Yes. I actually...

Re: It Couldn’t Happen Here June 2020 Release Confirmed

They did not say that they had recorded. They were only about to do it, and probably did not because the original film/tape was not found back then and so there was nothing to record commentary on (unless they did it playing the original release, which they probably would not). Surely it wouldn't m...

Re: It Couldn’t Happen Here June 2020 Release Confirmed

Funny how I’m also eagerly awaiting a blu ray release, but at the same time remembering I didn’t like the movie very much. I have it on VHS and watched it five times or so in the 90s, but I found many parts either embarrassing or boring or both. I think the psb could have been in it more, all their...

Here I have a question for native English speakers.

Does "gay" in the noun phrase "gay music icons" (as used in the article above) refer to "music" or "music icons/ icons"?
It means they make happy music for happy people.

Neil is correct of course that the UK only became part of Europe in his lifetime in a swap deal with Burkina Faso.

Re: At Rock Bottom (snippet)

I wonder if ‘At rock bottom’ is about George Michael? I wonder who Neil wrote this about? Curious. Here are the lyrics: https://www.petshopboys.co.uk/lyrics/at-rock-bottom At rock bottom Everyone talks about their loss and the legacy Sharing condolences and offering sympathy But at rock bottom what...

Where can I see a full list of the most popular tracks on Spotify?. I only watch a top 5. I don't know if there is a possibily of watching a longer top.
You want to watch a longer top? Adam Tremadoc’s your man.
