Re: PSB namechecks in New Order biogs
Ageist and racist, telling Rolling Stones and Fleetwood Mac they were too old and to go back to where they came from.

Re: PSB at the BBC
Is it just me or have Neil's vocals been polished in some of the live performances? In the Can you forgive her? TOTP performance his live vocal genuinely sounds like it has been replaced by that in the song itself. Same with the live performance of Opportunities in the Whistle Test.

Re: When you stop liking the music as much
I think it's part of the growing up process and the ever increasing responsibilities that you are likely to have, and suddenly there are fewer opportunities to be an out-and-out fan who bounces around while listening to Very like I did as a teenager. Back then I couldn't imagine not listening to the...

Re: Single versions
Among those single/radio edits that are merely shorter versions of the album tracks (as opposed to having additional production), there is a subset of very disappointing ones. These sound not just edited to be shorter, but mutilated without adding any value whatsoever. Hate them. Some examples: Thu...

[quote=Nickname post_id=597488 time=1592314120 user_id=136 I don't agree with most of what you said, but it's only your opinion so that's fine. But you can't say Burning the heather doesn't have a bridge. Maybe you should listen to the song a few times before casting judgement. Where did I come from...

Great thread! Here's a pic of a bunch of us from this forum after the first Potemkin gig. Any of you guys still here??? https://cvws.icloud-content.com/B/AQJ-EHo6CkwvlRcsBofb2jr4xQKWAd7TkJcQISlZkZumcWcXKmfNOyMc/dainton2.jpg?o=AifRfWSz8Vky34ubcn0w2dwpDi7pUWlDzbKaXTm51aBI&v=1&x=3&a=CAogEx...

Re: Heaven 1991: Was it worth it?
Taken in isolation Was it worth it? is pretty average at best but somehow I think it works at as a final track because of its theme. I think it also depends on how you listen to music as a whole. Is it just a couple of tracks at a time, on shuffle, a playlist maybe? If I listen to PSB it's nearly al...

Re: AFTER THE EVENT & IN HIS IMAGINATION
After the event is brilliant, PSB at their most sinister best and the whole faux sympathy dig. Not a huge fan of In his imagination, though. It's quite nice but the lyrics annoy me. I love the line about his mother reminding him he's lucky to be employed even if it's a crap job because I can really ...

Re: Today I listened to Elysium for the first time since 2012...
It's a very pleasant album and I often listen to it on the way home from work to wind down. Leaving is wonderful and despite such a simple philosophy about love never dying due to memories it's delivered immaculately. Also love Invisible, A face like that and in particular Give it a go, which has on...

Re: 10 for 10: Best Pet Shop Boys Tracks of the Decade
1. Leaving: Heartbreaking yet hopeful lyrics, with some fantastic remixes. 2. The Pop Kids: The joy and pain of the past. 3. Together: Rave pop at its best and the extended mix is amazing. 4. Into thin air: PSB go sort of poppy drum and bass with an escapist theme. 5. Inside a dream: The dreamy stan...

Re: I'm with stupid revisited
I'm not convinced. The lead singles from the Nightlife and Release eras both missed the top 10 by some considerable distance so it proves PSB fans don't buy everything regardless of timing. And obviously I'm with stupid was a fanbase purchase but it was a bloody successful one because it clearly br...

Re: I'm with stupid revisited
From a commercial perspective I simply can't believe people think I'm with stupid was the wrong choice as lead single. It was their biggest hit since Se a vida e. I'm with stupid made #8 in the UK charts (missing out by a whisker on #7) and subsequently Fundamental charted at #5 in the album charts...
