Never really got into Dave, but the extended mix of Love is everywhere is a banger. Nice cheeky nod back to the KLF's ...Obvious remix in the breakdown.

Re: "Performance" Los Angeles 30 March 1991-audio released

Good find. After just knowing the video/DVD audio, it's nice to hear the little variations in, er... performance. A couple of flubs notwithstanding, Neil's vocals actually sound a lot stronger in many places. The big ear opener is actually being able to hear the mighty JJ Belle's guitar throughout: ...

Yeah, if they've not been arsed to record a commentary yet, surely they could skype one in on lockdown? Give Neil something to do in between his tree photography and curry making....

Just watch the trailer, then the Always on my mind video and you don't need to put yourself through the film  Seriously though, that looks nicely scrubbed up... I remember the VHS print looked like it had been pulled out of a hedge. Cant wait to see Babs Windsor's fried egg bukk*ke in hi-def...

Re: It Couldn’t Happen Here June 2020 Release Confirmed

Funny how I’m also eagerly awaiting a blu ray release, but at the same time remembering I didn’t like the movie very much. I have it on VHS and watched it five times or so in the 90s, but I found many parts either embarrassing or boring or both. I think the psb could have been in it more, all their...

Just as an aside to this, anyone with even a passing interest in TOTP, or pop in general, should give the Chart Music podcast a listen... https://chartmusiccouk.wordpress.com/ It's basically some battle-worn music jornos dissecting, at length, old Top of the Pops episodes. It's profane, insightful,...

Re: Burning the heather

Really come to love this - definition of a grower and a real seasonal mood piece. I do love it when they go a bit pastoral. Great for listening to in front of the fire, as the evenings draw in. Melodically, anyone else getting echos of Pulp's "Something Changed" in the chorus? They run together well.

Re: She Pops as good as The Pop Kids

Never been a huge fan of The Pop Kids, though I can see, it's technically and thematically the better song. As throwaway, retro-y, earwormy pop, She Pops is a delight: Italo, meets K-Pop meets The Monkees with a bit of Joe Meek thrown into the mix. It would be nice to hear a more polished, finished ...

I could see this really fitting into the BFI's fantastic Flipside range - all sorts of weird, wonderful, under-appreciated gems and oddities there.

Re: Saint Etienne's PSB references...

Why do you suppose that bands like Saint Etienne, New Order, and Depeche are 'cool" and PSB are not? Is it just the sexuality? Indie-cred innit? I remember hearing Bob say when interviewed about his book Yeah, Yeah, Yeah; that his editor didn't think PSB deserved to share a chapter with New Order. ...
