Re: Q2. Lyrics used twice.

Q2. Name songs that have the same lyric in both. I did observe a couple...cannot remember. The party's still in full swing (Bright Young Things) All I know is the party's in full swing (Pandemonium) Not quite identical, but the same phrase at least! Half a point for "when I look back upon my life" ...

Re: ‘The land of dreams is better far...’

Yeah, it means the same as "is far better". The full verse mentions the real world ("this land of unbelief and fear"), then says the land of dreams is far better than that one. It's an unusual order to put the words in but the meaning isn't changed. The PSB quotation is a little confusing because it...

Re: Neil Tennant announces new book

Slightly off-topic, but might we get another book from you analyzing another PSB album? One can hope! 8) Gosh that's very flattering. I don't know if Repeater would go for more of the same, though also I kind of assumed on top of that no one would actually want any more. I am meant to be writing an...

Re: Neil Tennant announces new book

I don't think I immediately appreciated how many 100 actually is. A quick sum of all their albums, knocking off eight for being covers or (almost or entirely) instrumental leaves something like 130 (don't @ me, I did this in my head). Add on the 50 or so B-sides and one-off singles that aren't cover...

Another fantastic read, Dog - thanks so much for doing and sharing this! If you've not already, you should really think about compiling these and having them published. :)

Re: Reissues project

Sorry, if you've already discussed it, but I'm curious about the mastering of Yes FL album on the CD. Is it better than it was on the original CD? I didn't like original Yes CD mastering. It was way too compressed. Thanks! Yes, it is a bit better. Still not exactly audiophile but the dynamic range ...

Re: Yes & Elysium vinyl pressings quality

Can't speak for Elysium, but my Yes reissue is streets ahead of the original in terms of sound quality, and has no pressing issues. (I have an ortofon 2m bronze cartridge at 1.5g tracking weight and a pro-ject debut III SE if that helps.)

Re: The Catalogue Interviews - Harold Faltermeyer answers questions from forum members

Thank you so much for this fascinating read, Dog, and for asking my question. He seems like such a lovely guy! It must have been incredibly good fun making that record - he obviously had a sense they were working on something that would be remembered for a long time. And I'm amazed and delighted he ...

Were the recording, mix and mastering analogue, or just the synths?

Re: The Re-issues Chart Watch Thread!

I must admit, when I held the Elysium reissue in my hands I did have the momentary thought of "didn't I buy this last year or something?" Diminishing returns the later you go in the catalogue. That said, Please and the early albums will hardly chart too highly either because we already have the bon...

Re: Reissues project

That's odd when it's also more dynamic. Are you able to pull out the dynamic range and peak from that?

Re: Reissues project

Has that been normalised? I ask 'cause the '09 release looks quieter but the peaks are noticeably squashed compared with the new version. Which is just as well - the original master was far too hot, so it's good to see Tim Young has rowed back a bit on the loudness war. On the subject of Love Etc. t...
