Re: How many records do you guess PSB has sold in their career?

At the infamous Tonight Show appearance that coincided with the Performance tour, didn't Leno say something like "The Pet Shop Boys - they've sold 50 million records, and it's only Tuesday!"? Or was it 25? I don't remember and I don't have the Chris Heath book on me. If the number was accurate then ...

Re: After the third album of the triology, I want PSB to do an unexpected movement

What's unexpected is that the trilogy came to an end at album #2. I have a feeling they've moved on from it. Stuart Price has been on the downlow for some time now. Or that EMI release a remastered version of Relentless, to the exultation of many fans, and Neil says that the reissue is the third pa...

Re: Would you like a new PSB rock album?

I've thought their remixes of rock songs were pretty good. I think working with a metal band would be great, with the penchant toward hyperbole without being "camp." I think that's sort of what Streets was supposed to sound like, though we could debate whether ZZTop influences are properly "metal."

Re: Bobby O and Pet Shop Boyz

Thanks for sharing this, which I have seen before, though a long time ago. One thing that struck me this time is not just the sour grapes, or the missed connections, but O's interpretation of their later success as having abandoned their hip hop roots. Was it true that this was the direction they sh...

Re: Could we get Disco remasters with FL discs?

I would rather see a Disco 5. Maybe a little off topic.... I think I have said this before, but I have long thought they should put out a Relentless 2 with long mixes of songs or elements from Relentless or mixed in with unfinished or unrealized songs. A series of officially released remix albums fr...

Re: Are they skint?

Well, but when we hear the Jay Leno line "they've sold 50 million records, and it's only tuesday," they've been at that number since about 1991. Sure, I am sure they give themselves bonuses but if they didn't do anything for a year there would be something trickling in from investments and such from...

Re: Are they skint?

This might just be my imagination, but I have sort of assumed that when the "Pet Shop Boys partnership" was formed, they had an entity that paid them a salary from their own corporation as a windfall and as a way to take risks with finances (Performance tour, Most Incredible Thing, etc.), spend mone...

Re: Chris and his Monitor

This might sound nuts, but I have always assumed that Gleedall has Chris' keyboard synched with everything else to play whatever sounds he wants to play on any given song. One song it might be drums, later in the song horns, but it's programmed to change, and the monitor would have the music or noti...

Re: Up to 13 years of mystery and speculation nearly over....

It would be cool if Relentless were to be given a proper release through this. I know it won't happen, but that would justify whatever else is being released, in my book.

There is a chapter titled "Praying the Confiteor at Westminster Abbey: Four-on-the-floor Apocalypse" in:

Mike Grimshaw, The Counter-Narratives of Radical Theology and Popular Music: Songs of Fear and Trembling, published by Palgrave Macmillan.

Re: Release Revisted

There are a few points where the Boys' "eras" were really grounded in a particular songwriting period. The early work was in their early songwriting sessions, providing songs into the final single of Behavior. Our current era, it seems to me, is less identifiable with Stuart Price but with the songw...

Re: Matt Drudge digs the PSB?

For years, whenever there is a fill-in person on the US Rush Limbaugh Show on AM radio, "Always on My Mind" is used regularly as intro and outro music... it seems to me that they also threw in another PSB song, one not as well known, though I don't remember... and I don't listen to AM talk radio as ...
