Re: B-Sides since 2009's "Format"

Given ownership of the tracks for any prospective compilation will be split between Parlophone and X2, how will this realistically work? We may find it’s a non-starter.

Re: New Album Cover..?

Absolutely loving this artwork. Would love to have a full subway-sized poster of this artwork with just the words "Pet Shop Boys" on it. Not so keen on the "Hotspot" title as I don't think it matches the mood nor imagery of this album. Based on the recent BBC6 interview it sounds like they struggle...

Sounds like Pazzo a bit to me.
According to Annually, the demo of Monkey Business featured the same sounds as Pazzo.

Re: Hotspot album promo music

Listened through headphones, is that the sample of a train at the end? Does Berlin have an underground? And I love the accompanying video, the way N&C merge into the album artwork. I'm getting great vibes from this! I seem to recall Chris mention, maybe in a recent Literally, that they wanted to re...

Re: Burning the heather

I know Neil's explanation about the song but the lyrics.... (I’ve just dropped in for a drink before I disappear. Where did I come from? Where do I go? Time is so heartless. You don’t want to know. I set out in the dark waking from a nightmare hoping I could find the middle of nowhere. I'm a strang...

Re: DREAMWORLD TOUR

Apparently they're going to play the most popular ones, as well as some of the lesser hits. Everything will have been a single. They may segue several together. Es Devlin will not be working with them on it either. I'm ok with Es not working on this one - amazing as she is, I bet she doesn't come c...

Re: Burning the heather

:D I put together a playlist of a couple of the new tracks and some of the "Agenda" tracks and in the order I have listed them the running order works really well. This is running order I used: Give Stupidity A Chance Burning The Heather An Open Mind What Are We Going To Do About The Rich The Forgo...

Re: The New Album Info Thread

According to the 6 Music interview, the album is called Hotspot as a reference to Berlin being the “hotspot” of the Cold War. The wi-fi link is secondary... It’s also a naff, brash reference to a nightclub, reflecting that side of the music. It’s purposefully less tasteful than some of their previou...

Burning the heather is the only guitar track.

Re: The New Album Info Thread

“In folklore, a will-o'-the-wisp, will-o'-wisp or ignis fatuus (pronounced [ˈiɲis ˈfatu.us]; Medieval Latin for "fool's fire") is an atmospheric ghost light seen by travelers at night, especially over bogs, swamps or marshes. The phenomenon is known in English folk belief, English folklore and much...

Re: Name the next Pet Shop Boys album

I like this definition:

Hotspot: a place of significant activity, danger, or violence

Helps the artwork make a little more sense.

Let’s be honest, we can speculate all we want until Annually tells us it’s actually about the Russian revolution.

I reckon they’ve purposefully pulled out a track that’s the polar opposite of Dreamland.

Re: The New Album Info Thread

Interesting to note that neither Dreamland nor Burning the heather were recorded at Hansa Studios. The bulk of the album may well sound different again. I was thinking just the same thing. These are PSB produced tracks mixed by Price, aren’t they? The album is still going to be big surprise I recko...

Re: Burning the heather

Some are saying this isn't a single? Why not? There's a radio edit and on the Official store it states the album features Dreamland and Burning the Heather. I suspect we'll get physical release details in the next fortnight. It’s just called out as “another of the songs” on the official site and in...
