Re: PSB announce ‘Inner Sanctum’ live DVD/BLU RAY/CD

Does anyone know which of the four 2018 ROH shows is/are featured on the release? I remember that 2 or 3 of the 4 shows were filmed. Now wondering if the final product is made of a mix of different days' shows or a single one. Also, does the content of the audio CDs exactly match the Blu-ray/DVD or...

Re: Reputation Reissue - Promo Advert

Cannot stop playing Arrested By You. Shame not a Tennant/Lowe production. The copy of Literally that covered Dusty's funeral mentions that as executive producers Neil & Chris "tinkered with a few of the non-PSB tracks. Neil also added the oboe solo (played on an Emulator) on Arrested by you". He re...

Re: Of course it might just be me........

I think the choice of studio and the old equipment is key here. I’m imaging Electric / Super crossed with the warmer tones of Behaviour... Helping soup up those poppier songs we know they have in the bag, and also softening those darker, harder songs they put to one side too.

Re: The New Album Info Thread

From Wikipedia: “The roll of notable recordings and the darkly sonorous sound quality, at once rugged and spacious of many of them, have given the studio near legendary status, especially within the post-punk and synthpop genres. In 2018, the studio was the subject of a documentary feature by filmma...

Re: The New Album Info Thread

Presumably the photos of the old 70s and 80s equipment and the focus on the studio’s history should read as another big clue?

Re: Neil's flogging off an antique piano.

I'm assuming the piano version of London was created on it From Literally: London (Genuine piano mix) Neil: This was totally done by Chris Zippel. Chris: And his pianist. Neil: When Chris Zippel has got your stuff over there on his computer he endlessly works on it and keeps sending endless things ...

Re: BBC4 Top of the Pops Repeats

Been watching some of these repeats I’m struck that most weeks the top 40 chart has some superb tracks, but the producers of totp pick some right stinkers. I mean, last week we had Tom Jones singing the boy from nowhere  My understanding is that for the majority of the show’s history there wa...

Re: Satirically

By the way, inspired by “The forgotten child” I’ve also compiled a Spotify playlist which is intended to include all their ballads. I’ve called it Pet Shop Boys Slush... I’m sure this is inspired by a title Chris suggested for a ballads album or compilation but can’t remember where this was quoted. ...

Re: Satirically

I Get Along? Hmmm... It's tricky this, isn't it? The thing is that it weren't for Neil's own commentary about the song, I wouldn't have necessarily had a clue as to who it was about. The satire or subject is not immediate... at least to these ears. “I’ve been trying not to cry when I’m in the publi...

Re: Satirically

In what way is "Where the streets have no name (I can't take my eyes off you)" satirical? Geowayne has a great explanation: It’s certain, however, that they had something much more in mind. In fact, this track is one of the most insidious deconstructions of rock mythology that you're likely to find...
