Re: Your bet for main single of "Nonetheless"

Anybody remember the sheer joy at the end of the 80's when the CD replaced the vinyl. All of a sudden 80 minutes of music... and what followed was one of the best GH albums ever... Discography. But there were others as well at the time: Tina's GH, Queen GH II, Immaculate Collection to name a few. T...

Another reason to dislike this vinyl trend.

Re: Track-by-Track: From Please to Nonetheless

Which one of the frankly confusing versions please? You are correct, it is rather confusing, I just checked the 12" version on Further Listening which didn't seem to have it. Then there's a longer version which has a the track mixed in with extra instruments (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=un...

Re: Pet Shop Boys on Youtube

Funny observation: Hotspot, the previous album, ends with Wedding in Berlin, with church bells. There's a constant church bell in Loneliness, the first track of the next album. Thought it was a funny coincidence.

Re: Track-by-Track: From Please to Nonetheless

No discussion opportunity for Opportunities (Reprise) then? It's not much for sure, but hardly ever spoken about and this was one more chance. Was it meant as an intermission, is it a mistake to be on the album and the only weak spot? Has anyone ever fan mixed it back into the track it was cut from...

Re: Track-by-Track: From Please to Nonetheless

My younger me always thought the b-side was rather meh and the a-side was where the bangers were. It took a few years to realize there's really no filler on this album and it's all top quality tracks!

Re: Track-by-Track: From Please to Nonetheless

That's because the very first marimba note is the last 8th note in a bar you don't hear. The second marimba note of the song is actually where the first beat of the bar is (only you can't hear that, as the drums haven't yet kicked in at that point in the intro). If that makes sense (a hard thing to...

Re: Track-by-Track: From Please to Nonetheless

On Suburbia: I rather prefer the laid back version of the album over the single version. Tonight is Forever: I fell in love with the track at the Salford gig in 2012. It's magic. What I find interesting with this song is its intro: I always hear the 'marimba-ish' in a certain rhythm, but when the dr...

Re: Track-by-Track: From Please to Nonetheless

I love that PSB weren't too afraid for becoming a one day fly because they knew they had Suburbia up their sleeves. Plus, as it turned out, the Actually album later.

Re: Track-by-Track: From Please to Nonetheless

Disco set them apart from other acts - Introspective added fuel to that trajectory. Yes, and Parlophone didn’t really want to release it, and then it sold three million copies, for mixes that they already paid for ! We have to remember that all the mixes on Disco were raritites at the time of relea...

Funny, I think the Release tour version is the best live version. It's absolutely a great song to play live.
