The Rolling Stones haven’t had a top ten UK single for 35 years, you dont see them peddling new tracks when on tour. ....
The Stones are dinosaurs from the Jurassic period. By comparison, Pet Shop Boys are merely Cretaceous.

Re: DREAMWORLD TOUR

I wouldn't be surprised if Price reworked many of their singles for a new compilation album. I've been thinking about how a new greatest hits record could work. The options aren't great. A single disc hits album is pointless as Ultimate has covered that (badly, in my view). A double disc (say, 36 tr...

Re: DREAMWORLD TOUR

I suspect anything that was released as a single is eligible for this set list. At the very least, they'll probably include Love etc (which was a hit) and Dreamland (which won't be, but is apparently lending its name to the tour). Regardless, considering Pet Shop Boys have more or less underused man...

Concert ticket sales is where it's at for PSB.

Re: Rate "Dreamland"

Jesus wept. If people want to interpret it like that, that’s very much their prerogative - and it’s as valid as any other interpretation. But as there are so many themes at play in this fascinating song, it’s remarkable that you would highlight this interpretation as in some way diminishing. One of ...

Re: Rate "Dreamland"

I'm not a fan of singles that get called "growers" mainly because that means they're not set up to take immediate advantage of limited radio play, and Dreamland definitely gives its secrets away slowly. But when it does, it's utterly infectious. The almost distorted wall of sound hides a great bathh...

Re: Pet Shop Boys - Hyde Park Sep 15th 2019

I enjoyed Olly. That's his schtick, mixing a kind of innocence, seduction, and provocation to upset the upsettable. Neil looked positively statesmanlike, in comparison, which is a look that suits him at 65. I liked his get up. It'll be instructive to see if BBC Radio 2 continue to support Dreamland ...

Neil is 65. Pet Shop Boys, Departure hasn’t been announced just yet. The last 20 years have been a massive bonus. I’d just enjoy the ride. Nothing lasts forever. Take Billie Trix’s advice.

Re: Rate "Dreamland"

I really like Dreamland. It fizzes with energy. From the celestial bathhouse that sets the scene to Chris's patented chunky bassline, it's hard not to get swept away in the somnambulant wistfulness of it all. Neil undertaking yet another act of escapology, accompanied, this time, by a slightly over-...

Re: September single...???

The lyrics video is fantastic. It’s a slightly surreal feeling arriving into Dreamland, AKA Alexanderplatz, every morning with the song in the headphones and seeing all of the elements of the station that you previously took for granted in a new light. I’ll say this though: they took the best part o...

Ah, those Pet Ship Boys. Legendary purveyors of such nautical hits as West End Gulls, Sail Away, Undertow, and Dreamland Ahoy.
