Re: Musik - Cabaret and EP

To be fair, the concept is rather important to the full understanding and, thus, appreciation of the project - at least in artistic terms. For example, if one didn't know the preposterous "story" of Billie Trix involved an encounter with Andy Warhol and copious quantities of drugs, Soup would rather...

Re: Musik - Cabaret and EP

One thing I've particularly enjoyed about this EP is that it's been a chance to reacquaint myself with Chris. In the absence of Neil (at least in vocal terms), my focus has shifted squarely to Chris's techno noodlings. Ich bin Musik is hooktastic and unabashedly full of fun, while For Every Moment c...

Re: BBC4 Top of the Pops Repeats

Domino dancing is a brilliant single - but they were overexposed by late summer 1988. In practical terms, it was their sixth single in 15 months, not a comeback single after an appetite-whetting interregnum. Left to my own devices would have met much the same fate. The timing was all wrong. That sai...

Re: PSB EDINBURGH MUSICAL SHOW

Surprisingly good. I have pretty low expectations for this latest off-piste frippery, but Ich Bin Musik is perky, vibrant, and deceptively throwaway. It's like Dusty let loose on lost Introspective backing tracks. For somebody purporting to be German, Billie's pronunciation of "musik" is about as au...

That's a very nice photo. Chris, in particular, is looking great!

Re: PSB EDINBURGH MUSICAL SHOW

Time will tell if any of this infects the new album, but, for now, it's possible to look at this as them compartmentalising their creative inclinations for the good of the new album. Agenda collected their more provocative, topical songs and spun them off Price 3 - and is artistically coherent as a ...

Re: The New Album Info Thread

I thought the most interesting tidbit of information in Annually was Neil revealing a different approach to songwriting: "Also, we have another way of writing, which has become more common this year of me writing lyrics and handing them to Chris..." - Neil Tennant, Annually 2019 The other nugget of ...

No, because there is nothing cunning or sly about it. Like much of the content, the title is straight down the line.

I’d argue the Radiophonic demo is superior in some ways to the album version.

Re: 10 years of Fundamental - Trevor Horn answers questions from forum members

Anyone could come up with any change in the studio. Maybe the cleaner suggested something in passing. However, one reason people employ producers is to create an environment where different ideas and perspectives are possible. Just as we would probably hold a producer accountable (fairly or unfairly...

Re: 10 years of Fundamental - Trevor Horn answers questions from forum members

We don't know definitively. Of course PSB would have contributed to it - at the very least they would approve or disapprove - but we know that the demo was not a Stuart Price production and the album version was a Stuart Price production. I think we can surmise he had at least some impact on what is...
