Re: The New Album Info Thread

I ordered the Japanese CD of Hotspot… hoping both the bonus tracks are from the album sessions, and Price produced… wouldn’t mind at all if one of them is An Open Mind… I’m still head scratching about this not making the album proper. Indeed. 'An Open Mind' is almost certainly the Always/Fugitive/A...

Re: DREAMWORLD TOUR

I suspect the Greatest Hits Live theme will lend itself to the staging , costumes and effects so that the show is a mash up of all their previous tours. Hyde Park was likely a preview of what to expect, they incorporated the animal head dancers from the Electric tour. Maybe we will a return of pig ...

Re: Burning the heather

The song is not about Brexit, but the assumptions the narrator fears the bar staff are making about him reflect a wider narrative about changing social mores in this country - the abrasive, labelling, cynical and presumptuous way we interact with each other these days, in a nation that is fundament...

Re: Heaven 1991: Was it worth it?

‘Was it worth it?’ was the first taste of the forthcoming Very sound and songwriting style. It would fit right alongside the likes of ‘A different point of view’ and ‘One in a million’.

How strange, what about It's a Sin?.
The probability that It’s a sin won’t be played is 0.

Re: DREAMWORLD TOUR

Just saw the new advert for the tour on Facebook. Songs used so far: West End Girls Suburbia Heart Domino Dancing Go West It's alright Can you forgive her? Always on my mind What have I done to deserve this? Yawn! What pethead would want to sed to those overplayed songs live? I don't think t...

Re: DREAMWORLD TOUR

I don’t think PSB would have wanted the Glasto legends slot anyway, as it is in the afternoon. They are always going to want to perform after dark, with accompanying lights, lasers and drama.

Re: Neil Tennant in conversation, Saturday 5 October 2019, RNCM Theatre

... and let’s face it, for PSB to perform live, there are very few physical requirements of them: Neil: the ability to slap thighs and lift hands to the heavens while walking across the stage Chris: the ability to stand up (optionally) and move hands on keyboard Although much has changed in PSB live...

Re: DREAMWORLD TOUR

I'd still go for a complete 4xCD variant, and a slimmer 2xCD one, but only if it includes the Bobby O mixes of the first two singles, and the original 7'' of Opportunities. That way, CD1 is different from Discography! They don’t own the rights to the Bobby O versions Why is everyone assuming that t...

Re: DREAMWORLD TOUR

I’m hoping that they use the songs to tell some kind of narrative, rather than simply regurgitating the hits per se. Channel the spirit of Performance for the hoi polloi. Absolutely right. I really hope that some creative ideas for staging, track sequencing and choreography are enabled by the incre...

Re: Rate "Dreamland"

I gave it a 5, which is possibly slightly generous. In the pantheon of PSB singles, it is definitely a 'well below average' effort for me - catchy and fun, but lacking any lyrical depth, poignancy or genuine drama. The lyrical theme of 'escaping to a utopia' is getting repetitive too. It is also muc...

A 29 for me. Not bad. It was the soap festival question I didn't know and got wrong, but probably should have guessed correctly!

Re: September single...???

Snippet caveats acknowledged, it sounds like a track from the latest Will Young album. Catchy, fresh, and potentially commercial, but slight and insubstantial.

Re: BBC4 Top of the Pops Repeats

Rewatching these early Top of the Pops, you realise again how completely different PSB were from the other acts of the time ... and how Neil was incredible at working the camera and making the most of those close-ups that TOTP loved to use to build a connection with the audience, all while doing ver...
