Re: Tom Watkins - Let's Make Lots of Money
Christ! I hope Tom has some slightly more thrilling anecdotes than this, because it just sounds like Chris taking the piss out of Neil. You can read this story two ways; Chris was being deadly serious or he was taking the piss. Either way, I would hope there are better stories in his book, because T...

Taking a cue from Erasure and recording a video in a toilet, perhaps? That EMI money sure could be handy right about now.

Re: A new PSB version of "West End Girls" is waiting for us?
I would hope that they'd know better than to try and redo something that is nigh on perfect in the first place. It's been remixed enough times and both the Sasha remix and Grum remix are good enough reinventions that we surely don't need another. Oh yes, even Shep did an amazing 12 inch mix, so we'v...

Re: 30 years since West End Girls hit number one in UK charts
It still sounds incredibly vibrant, cool and fresh all this time later. It always blew me away just how incredibly well produced the Stephen Hague was; not only that, but the night and day difference between the thin, wimpy vocal from the Bobby 'O version and the cool, crisply annunciated bite of th...

Re: Surprising things
Interestingly, for a short time, and for the only time in their chart history, there were two Tennant-Lowe penned records in the Top 10. Tom Watkins must have been quids in as well.

Now that's imperial.

Re: Anyone else have issue with vocals on Electric?
I know this might sound trite, but some of the vocal recording work on Electric is what kept it from being a great album to me. Love is a bourgeois construct would have been such a great song if they would have just done Neil's voice normally without using that vocoder effect garbage. Also I take i...

A career highlight: a droopy banner above a transit. Okay, that's harsh; I don't doubt the sincerity, but this isn't an exclusive club. This song transcends sexuality. And always will. hello this was a song written by a gay man about his gay best friend who died of aids that is all And it should ab...

Re: Interesting read about PSB ex-manager...Tom Watkins...
I recall his quote on the Top 10 synth bands programme about Neil & Chris's success after they left him ''Not bad for a pair of queens'' Sounded quite bitter, he did. I have that documentary (channel 4, I think) about him on VHS somewhere, though the year escapes me; early 2000's perhaps? If yo...

Re: Get it online - speculation/review thread
It'll be a bitter tirade against the evil machinations of the hardcore fans and their lust and shameless desire to put their albums out onto the internet before the release date. "Get it online!" berates Neil Tennant to a melancholic disco beat of Chris Lowe's creation, "get it for fr...

Re: Thursday will be the next next single and a xmas number
Charts are meaningless these days. Before the advent of downloads and the virtual death of singles, to have a chart single really meant that you were a success. It would be even more meaningless if the only way that the boys could have a chart single is if fans manipulate the charts. That's more in...

Just out of curiosity: how can you not find out that Victoria Hesketh = Little Boots, since if you Google "little boots", that fact is mentioned in just about on the first line of every link that top the list? Yes, youre right. Just searched to quick (and thought the result iss too easy)....

Re: Thursday will be the next next single and a xmas number
The responses Nickname gets in here, make me depressed. Come on! Why not? There's this thing called "reality", which some of us on here are familiar with, and some of us aren't. It's the one pesky thing that's stopping the boys from getting that fifth number one. Now if we could all club ...
