Re: Nr 1 single again, after 35 years

How many physical singles do you have to sell nowadays to be number one? It's pitiful - this time last year, it was about 200, although Wham! sold 4,859 copies of Last Christmas on vinyl, erm, last Christmas. It might have also been a bit higher this week (The Weeknd at #7 sold 106 physical copies,...

Agreed, on every point. I read the fox hunting book once... a very entertaining read as I recall. Strange to see my own posts on the first page of this thread. I have literally no memory of (a) the conversation, or (b) reading the book. I assume it was this one , and that I probably read it around ...

Re: "Give Stupidity A Chance" in PHYSICAL Sales Chart?

It's been floating around that area for weeks. The short answer is that you don't need to sell many copies to get there - on 8th Feb this year, #58 sold 7 copies; on 1st Mar, #64 sold 6. So it needs fewer than 10 of us to buy it in a week for it to hang around the lower reaches of that chart. Edit: ...

When So Hard & Where the Streets Have No Name got to number one

I've been researching old charts for my blog , and discovered that Record Mirror used to publish a wide variety of charts in the 1980s (you may have known this; I did not!), many of which are scanned online, and PSB were prominent on several of them. I figured I'd share, as I found this pretty inter...

I have never known satire to be discussed so seriously.

Job done, Neil.
Yes, that was what I was thinking - the reaction here has been perfect.

Re: Reissues project

Charted way lower than the other reissues. Less copies sold or a particularly busy week? Not really... here's what I said a couple of days ago: They're at #28, 32, and 35 (in chronological order) on the midweek chart . The last batch were #25, 24, and 32, and entered the Friday chart at #65, 59, an...

Seriously has anyone worked out the link of even completed the cross word? I have been trying to work it out - too much for me.
Yes - see my previous post in this thread. I set the text colour so you can't see it without selecting it, in case others want to work it out for themselves.

If you don't want to know the answer, don't select the hidden text below...

It's "sang on Tina Turner records".

Re: Reissues project

All I can say is... it's too late. PSB had to re-release their Vinyls 10-15 years ago. I know a lot of people who don't care about singles, albums, concerts, tours and etc now... In 2002, 750k LPs were sold in the UK; in 2007, it was 200k. Last year it was 4 million. Nearly as many people bought th...
